Why Blord is still in Kuje Prison despite bail moves — Sowore speaks

Sowore's update on BLord's prolonged detention

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has offered a fresh update on the prolonged detention of Blord, shed new light on why the embattled businessman remains behind bars at Kuje Correctional Centre despite ongoing legal efforts to secure his release.

Speaking in a newly surfaced video while addressing the press, Sowore revealed that his legal team has already moved to secure bail for Blord but hit an immediate roadblock. According to him, the police filed a counter affidavit aimed at frustrating the bail application, effectively slowing down the process. However, he maintained that his team is actively working to challenge that move and push back legally.

Beyond the legal standoff, Sowore pointed to timing as another major factor. He explained that the Easter break disrupted court activities, with judges handling the case temporarily unavailable. This pause, he stressed, has contributed significantly to the delay, leaving Blord in detention longer than expected.

On concerns about Blord’s condition in custody, Sowore dismissed circulating online claims suggesting the businessman is unwell. He clarified that Blord is stable, in good health, and mentally prepared for life outside detention once released.

Blord’s legal troubles began after a case linked to allegations raised by social media figure VeryDarkMan, who accused him of impersonation, identity misuse, and false endorsements. Following his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja on April 1, 2026, Blord was remanded in Kuje pending further proceedings.

Sowore, however, made it clear that his involvement goes beyond legal representation. He stated that he stepped into the matter due to what he described as a suspicion of oppression involving both VeryDarkMan and law enforcement authorities.
