How Blaqbonez & Odumodublvck’s feud escalated into a ₦2.55bn lawsuit

For years, Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck have been among the biggest names in Nigerian hip-hop. They collaborated on songs, praised each other’s talent and appeared to share the same goal of pushing Nigerian rap to greater heights.

Today, that relationship has completely broken down. What started as rap competition, public jabs and diss tracks has grown into a legal battle.

Here is how the rivalry reached this point.

From Friends To Fierce Rivals

Odumodublvck & Blaqbonez

The current hostility between Blaqbonez, born Emeka Akumefule, and Odumodublvck, whose real name is Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, did not begin overnight.

The two rappers were once collaborators, working together on songs including Tesla Boy, Dollerz and Technician. At the time, they were seen as two of the leading voices of a new generation of Nigerian rap.

However, their relationship gradually changed as competition between both artists became more public.

By early 2025, Odumodublvck had begun making bold claims about his place in Nigerian hip-hop, insisting that his 2023 project Eziokwu was better than any other Nigerian rap album. Fans soon noticed growing tension between both rappers, with exchanges online becoming more frequent.

The rivalry gained even more attention after the 2025 Headies Awards. Odumodublvck won the highly coveted Next Rated category, but their previous friendship dissolved into a bitter public rivalry featuring traded disses and tensions backstage. It also led to a hot debate among fans about who deserved the award better.

When The Rap Battle Became Personal

The feud intensified in June 2026 after Blaqbonez and rapper A-Q released Who’s Really Rapping. Many listeners interpreted parts of the song as subtle shots at Odumodublvck.

Instead of treating the exchange as another rap battle, Odumodublvck made it clear he believed the disagreement had become personal. In one of his posts, he wrote:

“This is not a rap beef. Na me and you for this world… I am not fighting you. I hate you.”

The statement marked a major turning point, showing that the disagreement had moved beyond music.

Sexual Abuse Allegation Changes The Conversation

Later in June, the rivalry took a more serious turn when Odumodublvck publicly accused Blaqbonez of sexual abuse.

In several posts on X, he alleged that influential figures within the Nigerian music industry were protecting Blaqbonez and hiding the allegations from the public.

Referring to the case involving former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey, Odumodublvck wrote:

“The only difference between Partey and Blaqbonez is that Partey has not gone to trial. The other man is guilty, but the Nigerian music industry decides to turn it into a rap beef.”

He also called out specific industry figures, including label executive Bizzle Osikoya, music journalist Motolani Alake, and media personality Kemi Smallz, accusing them of being aware of the allegations but remaining silent

Odumodublvck did not publicly provide evidence to support his claims but insisted he was prepared to defend them in court.

The controversy also renewed public interest in a police petition reportedly filed against Blaqbonez in October 2025 by a complainant identified as “Jane Doe.” The petition accused the rapper of cyberstalking, emotional harassment, bullying, blackmail and invasion of privacy.

Blaqbonez denied all the allegations at the time, describing them as an attempt to damage his reputation.

Blaqbonez Responds With A ₦2.55bn Legal Threat

Blaqbonez

Rather than responding with another diss track, Blaqbonez chose the legal route.

On July 7, 2026, his lawyers, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, issued a pre-action letter accusing Odumodublvck of defamation, harassment and making repeated threatening statements online.

The letter argued that Odumodublvck had carried out a sustained campaign designed to damage Blaqbonez’s reputation. Part of the letter read:

“You have published, republished, and caused to be amplified across your social media platforms, statements of a threatening, defamatory and grossly abusive character, directed specifically at our Client.”

The lawyers added that the publications exposed Blaqbonez to “public ridicule, hatred, contempt and opprobrium” and caused serious harm to his emotional well-being, commercial interests and professional reputation.

What Blaqbonez Wants From The Court

Blaqbonez

The legal team is asking the court to declare that Odumodublvck’s posts describing Blaqbonez as a “sexual abuser” or suggesting he committed sexual abuse are false, malicious and defamatory. Beyond that declaration, Blaqbonez is seeking:

  • ₦2 billion in general damages for alleged damage to his reputation, goodwill and business interests.
  • ₦500 million in aggravated damages over what his lawyers described as the malicious and repeated nature of the publications.
  • ₦50 million to cover legal costs.

Together, the claim amounts to ₦2.55 billion. His lawyers are also asking the court to order Odumodublvck to:

  • Delete all alleged defamatory posts, videos and reposts from his social media accounts.
  • Publish a full public apology on his verified X and Instagram accounts and pin it for at least 30 consecutive days.
  • Stop making further statements accusing Blaqbonez of sexual abuse or any criminal offence.
  • Publicly caution his supporters against harassing, threatening or attacking Blaqbonez.

The legal notice gave Odumodublvck seven days to comply, warning that court proceedings would begin if he failed to do so.

Odumodublvck Refuses To Back Down

Odumodublvck

The legal notice did not change Odumodublvck’s position. Responding on X after news of the lawsuit became public, the rapper insisted he stood by everything he had said. He wrote:

“@BlaqBonez I STAND ON IT. THIS IS NOT DEFAMATION.
YOU ARE A SEXUAL ABUSER. YOU DID IT.

JUST BECAUSE YOU GIVE A HUNDRED BLOGS TO POST YOUR 10TH PETITION TO ME, DOES NOT MEAN I WILL CHANGE MY STANCE.”

“IF I WAS WRONG WHY HAVE YOUR 9 OTHER PETITIONS TO ME FAILED? YOU ARE GUILTY.”

What Happens Next?

As of the latest developments, no settlement has been announced between both rappers. If Odumodublvck does not comply with the demands in the pre-action letter, Blaqbonez’s legal team says it will commence formal court proceedings.

Should that happen, the dispute will move from social media timelines to the courtroom, where both sides will have the opportunity to present their cases.

Conclusion

The breakdown of the relationship between Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck has become a rather worrying one. What began as friendly competition between two respected rappers slowly turned into public insults, diss tracks and explosive allegations before culminating in a ₦2.55 billion legal battle.

The next chapter of this feud may no longer be decided by rap lyrics or social media posts, but by what happens inside a courtroom.
