Nigerian students aged 18 and above can access Google AI Plus at no cost for 12 months through the company’s Gemini Student Offer.

The programme is designed to provide eligible students with access to a range of artificial intelligence tools that can support learning, academic research, writing and other educational activities.

The subscription, valued at ₦92,400 per student, is available to students enrolled in accredited Nigerian universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

The offer provides access to several premium features intended to assist students with research, revision, content creation and the management of academic materials.

One of the tools available under the subscription is Gemini Live and Omni, which allows users to engage in real-time voice conversations, making it possible to discuss complex subjects or develop ideas through hands-free interactions.

Another feature, Deep Research, is designed to conduct detailed searches across multiple sources and produce summaries with citations that students can use when working on essays, seminar papers and final-year projects.

The subscription also includes Guided Learning Mode, which is structured to work more like an interactive tutor by providing hints, prompts and guiding questions instead of simply giving users direct answers.

Students can also use Gemini Study Notebooks to organise uploaded lecture slides, PDF notes and other reading materials into customised study plans and practice quizzes.

The package further provides higher usage limits, unlimited file uploads and 400GB of Google Cloud storage, giving students additional digital space for storing academic materials and files.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in an accredited university, polytechnic or college of education in Nigeria.

Students who previously claimed the offer during the last academic session may also be able to extend their access for another 12 months, provided they successfully re-verify their student status.

Eligible students can begin the process by visiting gemini.google.com/students or one.google.com/ai-student using a phone or computer.

Applicants are required to sign in with their primary Google Account before beginning the verification process.

The next stage involves confirming student status through SheerID, where applicants select their institution and provide information required to establish their current enrolment.

Students may be asked to provide an institutional email address using an .edu.ng or school-specific domain, or submit a clear image or scan of a valid student identification card.

A current-session admission letter or course registration document may also be used where required to establish proof of enrolment.

Once the verification process has been approved by SheerID, the student can accept the terms of the offer and activate the 12-month Google AI Plus subscription on the verified Google Account.

The offer gives Nigerian students access to AI-powered tools that can be used for academic research, revision, organisation and other educational tasks without requiring payment for the subscription during the 12-month promotional period.

However, students should ensure that the information and documents submitted during verification are accurate and correspond with their current academic status.
