The Champions League table has a familiar name on top and a crowded field just behind. After Matchday 3 of the 2026-27 league phase, Paris Saint-Germain lead on nine points. Aston Villa, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Real Betis have also won all three of their games, so only five of the 36 clubs have a perfect record. Every other side has dropped points somewhere.
Tuesday and Wednesday produced goals in bulk, upsets and some awkward results for big names.

Champions League table after Matchday 3
The top eight clubs after eight games go straight to the round of 16. Clubs finishing 9th to 24th enter the knockout play-offs, and everyone outside that band is eliminated. Clubs level on points are separated by goal difference first.

PSG beat Barcelona in a six-goal thriller
The headline game was at the Parc des Princes, where the two-time defending champions beat Barcelona 4-2. Désiré Doué gave PSG the lead in the 38th minute, Barcelona’s Espart equalised in the 55th, and Lucas Hernández put Paris back in front in the 72nd. Lamine Yamal levelled again with 11 minutes left, but PSG had one more spell in them. Vitinha scored in the 81st minute and Fabián Ruiz added a fourth in the 86th.
That is three wins from three for Luis Enrique’s side, who opened with a 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava. Barcelona stay inside the top eight on six points, but this was their first defeat of the league phase.
Liverpool come from two goals down against Villarreal
Anfield saw the most chaotic result of the week. Villarreal led early through Mikautadze in the 4th minute and Cardona in the 29th, and Liverpool were 2-0 down at home.
Alexis Mac Allister pulled one back in the 36th minute, Araújo equalised in first-half stoppage time, and Mac Allister struck again in the 65th. Florian Wirtz made it 4-2 three minutes later. Oluwaseyi scored a late goal for Villarreal, but Liverpool held on for a 4-3 win and a perfect nine points. Villarreal sit 19th with three.
Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Betis keep their records
Real Madrid beat RB Leipzig 4-1 and are the most settled of the unbeaten sides. They also have a 2-1 win over Inter in the bank. Leipzig dropped to 29th, level on points with AEK Athens.
Aston Villa had the strongest goal record of the unbeaten teams going into the week, having scored nine and conceded two in their first two games, with Nicolas Jackson already on three goals. They beat Viking 3-1 at Villa Park, and Unai Emery’s side now have 12 goals scored and three conceded from three games. Viking, who drew 3-3 with Bayern Munich on Matchday 2, are 33rd on one point.
Real Betis are the surprise name in the leading group. They opened with two 3-2 wins and came from behind to win both. This time they needed no comeback and beat Feyenoord 1-0 in Seville. Having won all three games, they are among the five perfect sides.
Como humble Manchester United
The biggest shock of the night was in Italy. Como beat Manchester United 4-1 in front of their own fans, a result that lands hard after United’s 4-0 win over Sabah on Matchday 1 and a loss at Atlético Madrid on Matchday 2.
Paz scored twice, in the 2nd and 52nd minutes, Douvikas added a third before half-time, and Ramon made it four in the 76th. Zirkzee’s 90th-minute goal was only a consolation. Cesc Fàbregas’s side are 9th on six points after a debut campaign that has now brought two wins from three. United are 20th on three points and will need a response when Roma visit Old Trafford.
Bayern and Arsenal share the points
Bayern Munich and Arsenal drew 2-2 in Munich. Eberechi Eze put Arsenal ahead in the 25th minute, Alphonso Davies equalised in the 35th, Harry Kane scored a penalty in the 61st, and Declan Rice levelled again in the 82nd. Arsenal are seventh on seven points and unbeaten. Bayern sit 14th on five points, with one win and two draws, and could start to feel the pinch of the goal-difference tiebreaker.
Other Matchday 3 results
Manchester City thrashed AEK Athens 5-1, with Phil Foden scoring a hat-trick, plus goals from Anderson and Cherki. Napoli beat Bodø/Glimt 4-3, with Scott McTominay scoring twice, while Roma beat Slovan Bratislava 4-0. Borussia Dortmund won 2-1 at Sabah, and Galatasaray won 4-2 at Lille. At the bottom, Porto, Lille and Slovan Bratislava remain pointless.

What the table means
With five games left for each club, nothing is settled, but the gap is already visible. The 14 clubs on six points or more are in decent shape. Past that, the lower half is bunched together on three and four points, and goal difference will decide a lot of those places.
The big names in danger are not the usual suspects. Inter, Manchester United, Napoli and Atlético Madrid are all between 15th and 22nd, well short of the automatic places. Leipzig and Porto have bigger problems and look like candidates for an early exit.

Barcelona against Aston Villa is the pick of the round. It pairs a Barcelona side that has just lost with a Villa team yet to drop a point.
