Mr. Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, says the Federal Government’s determination to crush banditry remains unwavering, despite a court declaring bandit groups terrorists.

Malami made the announcement on Friday in Abuja through Dr. Umar Gwandu, his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations.

“Now that the court has granted my office’s application to declare bandit groups terrorist organizations, it demonstrates my office’s and, indeed, the Federal Government’s determination to do things in accordance with the rule of law.”

“The development demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to upholding international standards in the fight against terrorism, separatist organizations, insurgency, and banditry in the country,” Malami said.

“This is part of an effort to find a long-term solution to the country’s plethora of security challenges.”

“My office, in collaboration with relevant government agencies, including security operatives, is working tirelessly to ensure that this declaration is fully utilized.”

The minister stated, “The government will gazette and publish the proscription order.”
