Sen. Hezekiah Dimka (APC-Plateau Central) stated that in the last two and a half years, he has sponsored three bills, sunk motorized and hand-pump boreholes, and built classrooms for his constituents.
Dimka, according to a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Jos by his media aide, Mr Katdapba Gobum, said he also empowered his constituents with farm inputs and skills to boost agriculture.
“Among the bills I have sponsored are a bill to establish the Federal University of Technology, Kabwir; a bill to establish the Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Kanam (a degree-awarding institution); and a bill to upgrade The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Training Institute, Jos,” he said.
Dimka stated that he sunk a 20,000-litre solar-powered borehole in Chikan- Kabwir, Kanke Local Government Area (LGA), which is currently awaiting commissioning, to ensure that the area has safe drinking water.
Another 20,000-litre solar-powered borehole was also sunk in Konkol-Tal, Pankshin LGA, according to the lawmaker. This is also awaiting commissioning.
Hand-pump boreholes were dug in Pyemgiji-Gindiri, Mangu LGA, and Dengi town (courts premises), Kanam LGA, he said.
Three 20,000-litre solar-powered boreholes have been allocated and surveyed in three other benefiting communities for drilling and installation as soon as possible, according to him.
“Determined to make education relevant to the children of the zone and beyond, a three-classroom block has been built, finished, and furnished in Kunet-Butura, Bokkos LGA, and is ready for commissioning.”
In Tuwan-Kabwir, Kanke LGA, a three-classroom block has also been built, finished, and furnished, and is now ready for use.
“A contract for one 3-classroom block in Kerang, Mangu LGA, Dengi, Kanam LGA, and Nemel, Kanke LGA has been awarded, with completion expected in a few weeks.”
“In an era when scholarships are scarce, four students have been awarded to study at various universities,” he added.
The Senator stated that he distributed four truck loads of fertilizer across Plateau Central to boost agricultural production.
Dimka stated that an agro-processing zone has been established in the LGAs of Kanke and Kanam.
He emphasized that the land needed for the project had been donated by the communities that would benefit from it.
