In preparation for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, JAMB has changed the literature texts in four language subjects and Literature-in-English (UTME).
The four language subjects are Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, and Arabic, according to the weekly bulletin issued on Monday.
It stated that the changes would be implemented beginning with the 2022 UTME.
One of the new texts in Arabic is Abdulwahab Shith’s “The Nigerian Arabic Poems: a Case Study Between the Old and the New.”
One of the new texts is Diwaanur Riyardh: A Collection of Arabic Poems by Dr. Isah Abubakar.
The new texts for the Hausa language are “Prose (Zube) Turmin Danya, Poetry (Waka) Wakokin Hausa, and Drama (Wasan kwaikwayo) Abin Da Kamar Wuya 3.”
The board also named the new Igbo literature texts as “Prose (Iduuazi) Chinedu Ofomata (2009), Poetry (Abu) Nolue Emenanjo, and Drama (Ejije) Odunke Artists” (1981).
“Among the works of literature in English are Wole Soyinka’s ‘Lion and the Jewel,’ John Osborne’s ‘Look Back in Anger,’ Buchi Emecheta’s ‘Second Class Citizen,’ and Alex Agyei Agyiri’s ‘Unexpected Joy at Dawn.’
“Emile Bronte’s ‘Heights’ is also included.”
“Akojopo Alo Ijapa, Apa Kinni by Adeboye Babalola; ‘Awon Oriki Orile Metadinlogbon’ by Adeboye Babalola; and ‘Moremi Ajasoro’ by Debo Awe are among the new texts for Yoruba.”
“Others include Ayomide Akanji’s ‘Oro Enu Akewi’ and Akinwumi Isola’s ‘Nitori Owo,” according to JAMB.
