Jema’a LG chairman restates commitment to youth, women empowerment

Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mr Yunana Barde, has restated the commitment of the council to empower women and youths in the area.

Barde made this known when the wife of the Anglican Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, Mrs Nana Dogo, paid him an advocacy visit in Kafanchan on Thursday.

Mrs Nana Dogo was in the chairman’s office to seek his support for her women and youth empowerment project.

Dogo explained that her project was tailored toward making women and youth productive and economically self-reliant.

Reacting to this, Barde acknowledged that youth and women empowerment programmes had become imperative in view of the high rate of unemployment in the country.

He noted that his administration is open to partnering with organisations and individuals to provide skill acquisition and empowerment training opportunities to youths and other vulnerable persons in the area.

In a bid to ensure that skills acquisition are being imparted to youths at their early stage, Barde advocated for the inclusion of entrepreneurial studies in the curriculum of secondary schools and tertiary institutions in the country.

According to him, incorporating entrepreneurship in schools curriculum would guarantee students’ financial independence upon graduation.

He also applauded the bishop’s wife for her efforts in providing empowerment training for secondary school children, orphans, widows and other vulnerable individuals.
