Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari has sent a congratulatory message to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on his assumption of office after a successful election.
In a statement issued by the presidential media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari also seized the moment to congratulate former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Buhari appreciated Merkel’s warm disposition to Africa and Africans, and for paving way for many development projects on the continent throughout his 16 years tenure.
According to the president, Merkel’s penchant for deepening democratic values and good governance, exemplified in the growing relations between Nigeria and Germany remains one of her legacies in Africa.
Buhari who added that he can’t wait to work with the new German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, noted that Merkel’s historic position on immigration would always be remembered.
