Rep. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe

Rep. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe (APC- Oluyole) has vowed to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Itunu Babalola, a Nigerian lady who died recently in a prison in Cote d’Ivoire.

This assertion was made by Akande-Sadipe, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, in a statement signed by her Media Aide, Olamilekan Olusada, on Saturday in Ibadan.

She had paid a condolence visit to the deceased’s parents in Ibadan.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the late Babalola, also known as ‘Becky Paul,’ was sentenced for an offense she did not commit and died in a prison in Cote d’Ivoire.

Akande-Sadipe stated that all necessary actions to solve the mystery surrounding Itunu’s death would be encouraged.

According to the House chairman, this could include a thorough coroners’ inquest into the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to Akande-Sadipe, the Ivorian Ambassador to Nigeria should ensure that the wrongful incarceration that resulted in the death of a Nigerian citizen is thoroughly investigated as soon as possible.

She reiterated that the House of Representatives has always been committed to the safety of Nigerians in the Diaspora and that it will not rest until justice is served for the late Babalola, even if he dies.

The committee on Diaspora, according to Akande-Sadipe, was not satisfied with the results of the autopsy performed in Cote d’Ivoire, and a thorough investigation into the matter is still required.

The lawmaker urged the federal government not to brush Babalola’s death under the rug.

“Itunu will be avenged, and her name will be cleared.” “I promise it won’t stop here,” she said.

Mr Emmanuel Babalola, the deceased’s father, who was overcome with emotion, stated that the family was demanding a thorough investigation into the cause of their daughter’s death.

Babalola stated that the cause of her death could be determined by an independent toxicologist, and she thanked the lawmaker for her thoughtful gesture.

He claimed that his daughter was victimized while in prison, and he urged the Federal Government to look into the matter immediately.
