Nigerian up-and-coming Artiste performing at the live musical show in Ikeja, Lagos, Saturday night

Music lovers in Lagos Mainland were entertained on  Saturday as Twenty-two upcoming artistes performed at a live show tagged: “Mainland Invasion with Spiffy Yo and Friends’’.

The upcoming artistes ensured that fans had a wonderful time as they rendered some of their tracks live at Ikeja.

Chief Executive Officer of the entertainment company that organised the show, Mr Franklin Emeka stated that the musical performance was designed to showcase new artistes.

According to Emeka, some of the artistes that performed at the event lacked the financial capability to solely organise musical concerts.

He noted that the gesture was also to enable them to have some sense of belonging in the entertainment industry.

“I believe that music is not all about renowned artistes like Davido, Wizkid and all.

“This idea was informed by my quest to give the younger artistes the privilege to be heard and seen for local and global recognition.

“For each of the musical concerts I will be coming up with, I will be projecting one artiste. For this maiden edition, I am projecting Spiffy Yo, a talented artiste with unique musical qualities.

“For this edition, 22 artistes have performed and subsequent editions will feature more of the up-and-coming musicians alongside the renowned ones, like Davido, Burna Boy and more,’’ he said.

Speaking at the event, one of the artistes, Courage Adegboyega, popularly known as “Don Leo’’ who had been a musician since 2010, commended the organisers of the concert.

Another musician, Alfred Raphael, popularly known as “Alfredollar’’ a Masters’ degree holder in Theatre Arts, said he remained optimistic because the Nigerian entertainment industry had become an enviable one.

“Alfredollar’’ said that he had previously performed with renowned artistes like D-banj, African China, Weird MC, Triple B and Don Jazzy.

Other artistes that performed on Saturday were Damilola Fatogun “DJ Green’’, Gospel Nnadi “GP Yasky’’ and many more.

One of the fun seekers at the event, Damilola Fadipe, stated that she was thrilled by the performances and added that Nigerian artistes are truly well-endowed.

Fadipe urged the Federal Government to provide platforms to sustain the showcasing of up-and-coming artistes so as to shoot them to limelight.

According to her, this was important as the youths needed to be engaged positively to prevent them from engaging in social vices.

“I am actually marvelled with what I saw tonight. This is a confirmation that truly, Nigeria is well endowed with musical talents capable of projecting the nation as a hub of entertainment.

“Government only needs to do more to encourage them,’’ Fadipe stressed.
