Nasarawa Assembly join Gov. Sule’s wife’s campaign to end Gender Based Violence

In a bid to end Gender Based Violence GBV in Nasarawa State, the House of Assembly has joined forces with the Hope Foundation of Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s wife, Silifat.

According to the Nassarawa state assemble this was necessary to protect women and the girl child against all forms of violence, which would foster an egalitarian society for peace and progress to thrive.

Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House, gave the assurance during Hajiya Silifat Sule’s 16 days Activism Campaign Against Violence, to the State House of Assembly on Monday in Lafia.

Abdullahi, who was represented by Mr Daniel Ogazi, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Stressed that violence against women and girls has affected their lives negatively and the development of the society hence the need for all hands to be on deck to end the menace.

“We want to commend Her Excellency in her fight against rape and all forms of Violence in the state.

“Her Excellency’s efforts and continued fight is to ensure that there is no violence against women and girls in the state.

“We are happy with her initiative and movement.

“We will give you all the legislations and other necessary support to end violence against women and girls in the interest of peace and for the overall development of the state,” he said.

Abdullahi called on security agencies to bring perpetrators of rape and other forms of violence against women to book to serve as a deterrent to others.

This comes after the governor’s wife, had spoken through the wife of the State Deputy Governor, Mrs Tosim Akabe, to solicit for the support of the assembly and other stakeholders to end violence against women in the state.
