President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed the nation’s condolences to the government and people of the United States in the aftermath of devastating tornadoes that ripped through six states, leaving destruction and deaths in their wake.

Buhari responded to the global disaster that has been unfolding since Friday with a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu.

According to President Buhari:

“The destruction of entire towns, the flattening of houses, schools, hospitals, businesses, and other social infrastructure on a never-before-seen scale is heartbreaking.”

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected, as well as the government and the American people.”

At this difficult time, the president urged fellow citizens to join the rest of the world in praying for the deceased and the quick recovery of other victims and their families.
