Mr Dele Adeoke, the proprietor of Classic Nursery and Primary School in Ilorin, has called for the mandatory installation of sports facilities in Nigerian schools.

Adeoke, who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ilorin, said that the acquisition of sports facilities should be prioritized in both private and public schools.

Most schools, he claims, lack basic sports facilities for their students.

“The majority of private schools do not have enough space to build sports facilities.” They only value academics and deny their students the benefits of participating in sports.

“Most owners are uninterested in involving their students in sports.” They consider it unnecessary.

“Most schools do not have a football field, a volley ball court, table tennis, a javelin, or other basic sports facilities.” They are only concerned with libraries and science laboratories.

“Students must exercise. They must demonstrate and develop their talents while in school. “Learning is not limited to the classroom; you can learn on the field and become the best,” he explained.

Children, according to Adeoke, are future superstars who should not be confined to the classroom.

“When children have access to sports facilities, they can develop their talents and become superstars in the future, as well as represent their country in international events,” he explained.

The proprietor, on the other hand, urged the government at all levels to invest in school sports facilities and to compel schools to purchase the necessary equipment.
