Obiora Agbasimalo must not spend Christmas in kidnapers’ den – CSO tells police, others

Obiora Agbasimalo

On Thursday in Abuja, the Centre for Freedom and Social Justice requested the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to ensure the release of Obiora Agbasimalo from kidnappers before Christmas.

Agbasimalo was the Labour Party’s candidate in Anambra’s governorship election on November 6.

On September 18, he and his security aide were kidnapped while on a campaign trail from Ezinifitte to Azia in Anambra’s Ihiala Local Government Area.

The coordinator declared that Agbasimalo must be rescued and reunited with his family by December 25 in order to celebrate Christmas with his family.

He urged the police to speak up and inform Agbasimalo’s family, colleagues, friends, and associates of what had happened to their son.

“The Anambra Police Department must explain what happened to Agbasimalo, who kidnapped him, and why he was kidnapped.”

“We’re asking these and other questions.”

“We urge the police to ensure Agbasimalo’s release before Christmas,” he said.

Salawu noted that the kidnappers had yet to contact the family or demand a ransom.

Several groups and civil society organizations, he claims, have called on the police and other security agencies to come to Agbasimalo’s aid.

“A group has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari and other security agencies to take immediate action in order to solve the mystery,” Salawu said.
