El-Rufai earmarks N1.34bn for community, social development in 2022

Kaduna State Government has earmarked N1.34 billion for community and social development programmes in the 2022 fiscal year.

The amount was provided in the N278.6 billion 2022 budget signed by Gov. Nasir El-Rufai on Dec. 22.

In the budget obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Monday, some N1.3 billion was allocated for capital expenditure and N32.7 million for recurrent expenditure.

The breakdown of the capital expenditure showed that N10.7 million was set aside for the expansion of livelihood support and grant for the poor and vulnerable households as well as N144 million for nutrition services.

It showed that the N30 million was allocated for the construction of hand pumps and motorised boreholes in some communities across 23 local government areas of the state.

The sum of N20 million was earmarked for procurement of mobility, learning and hearing aids, and N349.9 allocated for Grant A – community development plan while N300 million for Grant B – gender and vulnerable groups.

Similarly, N450.1 million was provided for Grant C – labour-intensive public workfare initiative and N2.8 million for the project launch at the community level across the 23 LGAs.

The state government also allocated N32.7 million for recurrent expenditure, N3 million for stakeholders’ sensitisation and mobilisation, and N2.1 million for World Bank capacity building programmes.

A total of N1.1 million was allocated for supervision and N100, 000 earmarked for monitoring, evaluation and sector performance reports.
