33 hospitals, workers bag resource management award in Bauchi

Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASCHMA) has presented the 2021 Productivity Resource Management Merit Award to 33 health facilities and 10 health workers in the state.

Dr Mansur Dada, Executive Secretary of the agency, stated this during the award presentation ceremony on Tuesday in Bauchi.

According to Dada, the award was to recognise hard work, productivity and efficient management of resources.

He added that the recipients demonstrated high sense of commitment towards achieving universal healthcare coverage in the state.

Dada revealed that the recipients included 20 primary health centres, three hospitals, three desk officers and seven personnel of the scheme.

The Executive Secretary said that the agency in 2021 enrolled 43,000 vulnerable persons on its free healthcare scheme in 323 PHCs in a bid to achieve universal health coverage in the state.

In his remarks, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, said the scheme contributed towards enhancing access to quality healthcare service delivery in the state.

Mohammed urged health workers to shun sharp practices, warning that erring personnel would be penalised.

Also speaking at the event was Mr Ali Babayo, Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Health who congratulated the recipients.

Babayo attributed the feat achieved to the spirit of team work demonstrated by the health workers.

Urging the agency to sustain the tempo, Babayo called for proactive measures to keep track of activities in health facilities across the state.

“I want to commend the efforts of the present administration in the provision of healthcare and timely release of budgetary allocation and counterpart fund to health sector programmes.

“The ongoing recruitment of medical officers and timely release of funds to health agencies and departments is an indication of Gov. Bala Mohammed’s commitment towards transforming healthcare service delivery,” he said.
