NPFL 2021/22: Beating Remo Stars gives us route back to winning ways – Finidi George

Finidi George, the Head Coach of Enyimba International Football Club, says his Aba-based team will build on Wednesday’s victory over Remo Stars of Ikenne to return to winning ways.

George told newsmen on Wednesday at the Enyimba FC Stadium in Aba that they looked to have gotten over their worst days with the victory.

He spoke after their Week 16 match in the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) against Remo Stars, which they won 2-1.

“It was a good game. After two weeks of not getting more than two points, I must commend the boys for their performance today. It was a good effort from everybody.

“We could have increased the goals tally but it didn’t happen.

“But we will keep working on our goal scoring ability to see how we can improve in the matches ahead,’’ the former Super Eagles wing forward said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match was a reprieve for the home team which had been sliding downwards on the league table in their last four matches.

Enyimba took the lead in the 35th minute through Victor Mbomah, while Nduka Junior drew the visitors level the 68th minute.

Remo Stars’ coach, Olugbenga Ogunbote, on his part said he would take home the positives from the game.

He said his team was careless in some instances and had to pay dearly for it with the loss to Enyimba which could have been avoided.

“This is a game which we should not have lost. We should put it behind us and take the positives along with us,” Ogunbote said.
