A member of the Katsina House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya, has disbursed more than N9 million to his constituents to support their expenses during the Ramadan (fasting) period.
Yahaya told our correspondent that, while disbursing the money on Saturday in Daura, that the gesture was to “put smiles on the faces of Daura people in the Holy month of Ramadan”.
He listed the beneficiaries to include State APC executive members, executive members of the party in Daura Local Government and APC stakeholders in the area.
Others are traditional rulers, security personnel, religious leaders and orphanages.
Other beneficiaries included Nasir Yahaya working committee, social media and Nasiriyya groups, the physically challenged and the less privileged.
Yahaya called on the people to use the Ramadan period to offer special prayers for an end to the lingering security challenges confronting the nation.
Malam Shazalli Abdullahi, a political leader in the area, commended the lawmaker for the gesture and promised to support his re-election bid come 2023.
“Continuity guarantees development; we will support your political ambition. We need you to continue your kind gestures,” Abdullahi said.
The Chairman of Daura Local Government chapter of the APC, Alhaji Mamman Bariki, in a remark, lauded the lawmaker for the donation.
He said the gesture would go a long way to smoothen this year’s Ramadan fast.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Fahad Yusuf, a party faithful, thanked the lawmaker for touching their lives positively.
