Ukraine says over 720 bodies already examined in Kiev region

The bodies of hundreds of civilians have been found in the formerly occupied and contested Ukrainian territories following the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Kiev region.

The area’s police chief, Andriy Nyebytov, said in a statement that another 200 people werr considered missing.

“The number of discovered and examined bodies of perished civilians in the Kiev region as a result of the Russian aggression already amounts to over 720 people.’’

Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova had spoken of 1,222 civilians killed in the Kiev region in an interview on Sunday.

According to police chief Nyebytov, 1,463 war crimes cases have been opened. In addition, there had been 150 cases of looting.

According to the report, 30 cases of collaboration with the Russian occupiers are registered.

Russia attacked Ukraine seven weeks ago. The UN has so far registered around 1,900 civilians killed. However, not all of the dead have been recorded so far.
