Association cautions Muslim faithful against terrorism, unlawful acts

The Abuja chapter of Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) has cautioned Muslim faithful in Nigeria against engaging in terrorism and other unlawful acts.

The National Chairman, UNIFEMGA, Alhaji Ismaila Okunlola said this at the 15th annual ramadan lecture and breakfast programme of the association on Wednesday in Abuja.

Okunlola said that a Muslim should not be a source of trouble to any other human being, whether Muslim or non Muslim, saying that a true Muslim must be peaceful with himself in the society.

According to him, a true believer will not engage in indiscriminate killings, kidnappings and terrorism.

“A Muslim should not direct or indirectly support the perpetration of evils such as killings, kidnappings and violence among others.

” Allah admonishes us in the glorious Qur’an that he who kills a soul unless it be (in legal punishment) for murder or for causing disorder and corruption on the earth will be as if he had killed all humankind.

“And he who saves a life will be as if he has saved the lives of all humankind,” he said.

The Chairman said 759 students of the Obafemi Awolowo University have so far benefited from the association’s scholarship since the inception of the scheme in 2008.
“The indigent support fund has amounted to a total of N42 million, We therefore call on wealthy Muslims to support the scheme,” he said.

The guest lecturer, Imam Shakirullah Badewa, while delivering his lecture “Insecurity and Islam, Way Forward,” called on Muslim to go back to Allah and shun all forms of immorality.

Badewa said that Islam entailed peace, adding that insecurity had no place in Islam.

“If we are Muslims and our Islam is firm enough and effective then we are supposed to be having peace not insecurity,” he said.

Some dignitaries at the event included Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), represented by his Personal Assistant and former Minister of Communications, Alhaji Adebayo Shittu.
