2023: Enugu guber aspirant pledges to revamp ailing state-owned enterprises

A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Mr Erasmus Anike, has pledged to revitalise all the state-owned moribund enterprises if elected.

Anike, a real estate developer and consultant, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Enugu.

The current administration has made attempts to revamp about 16 state-owned enterprises, including the popular Presidential Hotel, Sunrise Flour Mill, cashew industries and AVOP Vegetable Oil Industry, among others.

Anike said he would bring innovations that would make it possible to resuscitate the comatose enterprises if elected the governor in 2023.

He said that such would be done with the full participation of the private sector to drive economic growth and development.

Anike said that the ongoing diversification of the economy by the Federal Government would also require the establishment of cottage industries and some agricultural value chains across the state.

He said that the thrust of his administration would be to end any form of youth restiveness by creating jobs which in turn would boost the revenue base of the state.

Anike said that great attention would be given to the youths, women and the physically challenged to maximise their potential.

The aspirant said that his principal aim for joining the gubernatorial race was to improve the lives of residents of the state through innovation.

Anike commended the current administration in the state for the unprecedented breakthrough it had made in the education, health, housing sectors and others.

He also commended the state government for tightening the security architecture of the state, which he said had made Enugu one of the safest in the country.
