Easter: Police assure Kogi residents of adequate security

The Police Command in Kogi has assured residents of the state of adequate security and a peaceful Easter celebration. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Egbuka, gave the assurance on Friday, in a statement in Lokoja by the Command’s spokesperson, SP William Ovye-aya.

Egbuka said the command had placed its officers and men on alert throughout the state to avert any ugly situation during the Easter celebration.

“The police wish to assure the good people of the state of adequate security measures put in place by the Command in synergy with other security agencies to ensure the safety of life and property during the period and beyond.

“Consequently, all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, as well as Tactical Commanders have been directed to ensure adequate security of lives and property in their respective areas of responsibility.”

“They have been charged to carry out intensive patrol along the major highways, intelligence led-operation aimed at curbing the excesses of criminal elements threatening our internal security,” he said.

The Commissioner urged all Kogites, particularly traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, market bodies, farmers, hunters, vigilante, transport union, ‘Okada’ union, tricycle union, among others, to give maximum support in the fight against criminals.

“We are assuring the good people of Kogi of our renewed commitment to sustain the tempo of the fight against criminality in the state and guarantee protection of lives and property,” he said.

Egbuka felicitated Christians across the state on the occasion of the 2022 Easter Celebration.
