Ogunruku family donates 6-bedroom apartment to Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti

The family of Ogunruku in Ido-Ekiti, Ido-Osi Local Government Area (LGA), on Wednesday donated a newly-built and equipped 6-bedroom apartment to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI).

The donation is in honour of their late illustrious son, Mr Ifelola Aina-Ogunruku, who died 10 years ago while in active service of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja.
The 6-bedroom apartment was built in the premises of the hospital by the Ogunruku family to serve as accommodation for patients’ relatives.
In his address of welcome, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, enlightened the guests at the occasion with the historical transformations of the institution.
Ajayi commended the Ogunruku family for their commitment towards meeting the needs of the hospital as highlighted during the hospital’s maiden stakeholders forum in 2021.
He noted that the hospital has since been receiving positive responses from corporate bodies and individuals, considered as critical stakeholders in moving the hospital to the enviable height.
The spokesman of the family, Mr Ayorinde Ogunruku, said that the building was put in place from the death benefits of the late operative paid by the commission and to provide shelter for patients’ relatives in the hospital.
Ogunruku, a former Registrar of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, added that the family unanimously agreed to immortalise their younger brother who died as a bachelor.
Mr Babatunde Ayodele, who represented the Chairman of EFCC, Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, at the occasion, said that the Ogunruku family had demonstrated exactly what the anti-graft warrior stood for while in active service.
He charged the gathering to always fight corruption which he described as a monster and virus which had eaten deep into the system and holding the expected national development and growth in suspension from time immemorial.
Committing the entire family into the protective hands of God, the Venerable of St. John’s Anglican Church, Ido-Ekiti, Ven. Joshua Olu-Ajayi, charged the gathering to be courageous and hopeful as he assured that light often comes after every darkness in life.
The Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Faboro, with moral support of his friend, Oba Olatuyi Olatunde, the Onimesi of Imesi-Ekiti, commissioned the project and appreciated the family for contributing their quota to the development of the hospital.
The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Dr Olagoke Erinomo, in his vote of thanks, noted that the family had not only supported the developmental goals of the hospital but had made provision for mankind irrespective of tribes, religions or status.
Dignitaries present at the occasion were members of Olojudo in Council, the Ogunruku families and relatives, Officers of the EFCC and Heads of Departments of the hospital.
