Ibrahim Ismail of the Nigerian Navy Islamic School, Apapa, on Friday emerged as the winner of the 2022 edition of the annual Ojora Qur’an Recitation Competition.
Yusuf Kamaldeen of Arisallah Academy, Ketu, came second while Muhammad Idris of Subhana College, Ijora, came third in the competition held at the palace of the organiser, Oba Abdul Fatai Aromire, the Ojora of Ojora Kingdom of Lagos State.
The reports revealed that the competition also featured a Ramadan lecture and the distribution of support items to residents of Ijora.
Ismail, in his speech, thanked the royal father for the opportunity given to young people to showcase their Quranic knowledge.
“I am very happy about this annual competition and I thank the Oba Ojora for giving us, young people, the opportunity to showcase our knowledge of the Quranic,” he said.
Also speaking, Kamaludeen appreciated the competition’s organiser, thanking him for the generous prizes given to the winners and other participants.
He said the prizes, together with items given to residents for Ramadan, were worth millions of naira.
“I am so happy to be one of the winners in this year’s competition and hope to participate and win more in the next edition,” he said.
Aromire, in his remarks, thanked Almighty Allah for allowing him to organise the competition and give support to residents annually.
“This is not the first time of organising this competition/Ramadan Lecture among the Quranic schools within and outside this Ijora community, we have been doing it for decades.
“Also, we gave out some items to residents for the month of Ramadan as laid down for believers in the Quran to share gifts to the people, the elderly, the vulnerable and the needy among us.
“We will sustain it, we will continue to do that inshallah,” Aromire said.
