Early childhood Care, development, education critical-UBEC boss

The Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr Hammid Bobboyi,
has said implementation of Early Childhood Care, Development and Education(ECCDE) was critical to nuturing a child’s educational development.

This is contained in a statement by UBEC Head of Public Relations, Mr David Apeh, on Monday in Abuja.

According to Apeh, the executive secretary made this known at the opening of capacity development training of  teachers and caregivers of UBEC ECCDE in Kano.

The Executive Secretary, who was represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Technical, Prof. Bala Zakari, explained that the capacity building workshop was focused on learning with play, brain and physical development of a child.

He commended the effort of all care givers and stakeholders involved in the process of ensuring that this capacity building was a success.

The Director, Special Programmes, Dr Ene Adikwu, said the training was aimed at familiarising participants with the skills and techniques on Reggio Emilia and other child central approaches so that participants would be able to manage effectively.

She stressed that the success of every childhood care and education depended on collective effort of all stakeholders saddled with the responsibility of impacting knowledge on children through early stimulation, care and language skill among others.
