The Lagos State University (LASU) on Friday took a free medical screening programme to Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), with over 300 residents benefiting.
The screening was put together by LASU Directorate of Advancement (LASUDA)
Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Ojo, for the gown (academics) to meet with the town (community).
Blood pressure checkups, blood glucose, HIV test, hepatitis B test, eye screening, breast cancer screening, cervical screening and prostate cancer screening were carried out on beneficiaries.
The Director, LASUDA, Prof. Yinka Okubena Dipeolu, in her remarks, appreciated the Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA for embracing the health programme.
Okubena-Dipeolu said that it was the first LCDA that single handedly funded the health programme.
“In most cases, the LASU will always support other local governments, but for Ikorodu North LCDA, the Chairman paid the bills.
“We have done this health programme in Ikeja, now Ikorodu and the next one will be in Epe by next week,” she said.
Mr Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, said the council was committed to ensuring that the people had easy access to health care services.
Banjo said that the LCDA was also creating more awareness on the need for regular health check-up in the community.
