Mr Thomas Joel-Onowakpo, an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Delta South Senate seat has vowed that the party will takeover the state in 2023.
Joel-Onowakpo made this known when his campaign team met with the Delta South APC executives on Saturday in Warri.
“The APC is more united than ever, there is no division in the party again,” he said.
The Senate aspirant said that his decision to contest was based on the party’s manifesto and the ability of the state leadership to harmonise all pending party issues in Isokoland.
“I am here today to present myself to the Delta South executives by the mandate of our leader, the Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege.
“That I should contest for the Delta South Senate seat in the 2023 general elections.
“I accepted his encouragement to contest for the seat to represent the good people of Delta South, because I believe we must join hands together to win all the elections in Delta come 2023.
“Having been encouraged and accepted to do this, I want to say that all of you in Delta South are gate keepers,” he said.
Joel-Onowakpo added: “Please, support us in whatever way you can so that we can win this elections. We are closer to victory than ever. There should be no doubt in your minds.
“From what we have been able to do in the party in the last few weeks, we did not allow people who will destroy us to hold or to contest this positions in the party. ”
He said that APC had chosen credible individuals with proven characters to represent it at all levels.
“So, as gate keepers, I want to beg you, there is no division in the party again. The best position the party could earn is where we are today,” he said.
Responding, the APC chairman in Delta South, Mr Austin Oribioye, assured of working to ensure the party took over Delta in the 2023 general elections.
“I know you are well exposed, have the capacity to deliver and give the people of Delta South an effective representation at the National Assembly.
“I urge you to work diligently with the electorate and party faithful in order for our party to come out victorious in the elections,” Oribioye said.
