Market project excites Ikole-Ekiti traders

Some traders in Ikole-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti have commended the Council Chairman, Mr Sola Olominu for building a modern neighbourhood market in the area.

A cross section of the traders who spoke with our correspondent, on Sunday in Ikole -Ekiti, described the project as a “welcome development.”
Mrs Bukola Ogundana, a tomato seller, expressed joy over the construction of the modern market equipped with the needed facilities.
Ogundana said that it would assist traders to expand their businesses and make additional profits.
She commended the chairman for the feat achieved towards creating an enabling environment for the traders.
Another trader, Mr Adebola Ogunsakin, a meat seller, hailed the local council administration for creating a conducive business environment for the traders in the community.
Ogunsakin said that most of the traders were delighted to have a better market that would enable them to display their goods and make better profits.
“I commend the chairman of Ikole LGC, Mr Sola Olominu on the newly market built for us.
“The traders in the community are happy and we promised to ensure effective utilisation of the facilities provided in the market,” he said.
Mr Bayode Fatoba, a grain trader, said that the new market would enable traders to own shops to display their wares.
The gesture, he said, would protect traders against losses, especially during raining season due to lack of shops to stock their goods.
“Personally, I am delighted with the plans the Council Chairman has for the traders in the area.
“Some traders does not have a shop to keep their goods, some of them keep it in the cars while others kept their good fellow traders who have stores in the market.
“With the newly built market, some of them will have a space to display their goods and it will be safe,” he said.
For her part, Mrs Dupe Ogunjobi, a yam seller, lauded Olominu for giving the traders the privilege to benefit from his administration.
Ogunjobi, who has been in the trade for over two years, said the gesture would availed her opportunity to own a shop as against displaying her goods in the open.
“With the available shops in the newly built market, I will apply for a shop to do my business,” she said.
Reports have it that Olominu on May 16, inaugurated the new market located along Ikole-Ekiti and Omuo-Ekiti Roads.
The council boss also laid foundation for health centre project designed with solar electricity and good security network to promote welfare of traders, boost trade and commercial activities in the market.
