Ondo Attack: Majority Leaders Forum tasks security agencies to apprehend culprits

The Majority Leaders of the 36 State Houses of Assembly have urged security agencies to immediately apprehend the culprits behind the Sunday attack at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.
The Chairman, Nigerian Majority Leaders’ Forum (NMLF) Mr Sanni Agunbiade, made this known in a statement on Monday in Lagos.
Reports have it that there was attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State on Sunday by suspected terrorists, where many people were killed and scores with various degrees of injury.
Agunbiade urged the National Security Adviser, the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to review their strategies and adopt more proactive measures to tackle terrorism and curb the worsening insecurity in Nigeria.
The chairman regretted that the forum was deeply pained by the gruesome murder of innocent Nigerians who were praising their God in the sanctuary.
He said the Sunday attack was yet another sad commentary on the abysmal failure of the security agencies to decisively confront terrorists in their organised attacks on Nigerians.
Agunbiade said the situation had emboldened those evil doers to continue to levy war on their nation and murder their citizens without restraint.
The forum described the attack as one too many on the nation, and urged every Nigerian to stand up and condemn the dastardly act.
“The forum emphasised that it stands with the government and people of Ondo State at this moment of national grief.
“We pray along with you. We sympathise with you on the untimely death of the innocent victims.
“The good Lord will comfort you and the families of those affected by this unfortunate incident.”
Agunbiade also prayed that such terrible incident would not occur again in the state and Nigeria in general.
