June 12: Ogun Speaker tasks Nigerians on PVCs to sustain democracy

The Speaker, Ogun State Assembly, Mr Olakunle Oluomo, has implored Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enhance the tenets of democracy.

Oluomo said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta on Sunday to commemorate June 12.

He said that it was important for all qualified citizens to get their PVCs to sustain democracy.

Oluomo said that it remains the only ticket to elect the people’s choice.

He said that Nigerians should collect their PVCs and be ready to determine winners at the 2023 general elections on June 12 to remain valid.

“We should continue to enhance the tenets of democracy by participating fully in the 2023 general elections.

“Those yet to get their PVCs should endeavour to the needful.

“You cannot complain when you don’t have the honour to participate in the election and for June 12 to remain valid and constant in our hearts, all Nigerians should go and get their PVCs and be ready to determine who wins election in 2023,” he said.

Oluomo described Chief M.K.O Abiola as Nigeria’s martyr for democracy that must be continuously celebrated.

The speaker said that the late MKO Abiola was known for his sincerity of purpose, selfless service and honesty.

He added that it was important for leaders to emulate such qualities.

Oluomo said that it was important for Nigerians, irrespective of their religious or tribal affiliations, to unite and sustain the nation’s democracy.
