Ogun agency urges motorists to obey road signs during Eld-el-Kabir

Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) on Wednesday advised motorists to obey road signs and drive safely to ensure an accident-free Eid-el-Kabir festival.

The Owode-Ijako Unit Commander of TRACE, Mrs Temitope Oseni, gave the advice when she spoke with our correspondent in Ota, Ogun.

Oseni implored motorists to desist from driving against traffic flow so as to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.

“Driving against traffic flow (one way drive) had been responsible for some of the road crashes that claimed the lives of people and injured many.

“We are also appealing to motorists to reduce speed and refrain from drunk driving so as to stem crashes during the festival.

“In addition, motorists should use seatbelts and desist from using cell phones while driving to prevent mishaps,’’ she said.

The unit commander also enjoined motorists to be patient, especially in market areas of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, where pedestrians would be crossing.

Oseni said the agency would mount 24-hour patrols to control remove gridlocks and ensure sanity on the road.

Reports  have it that the 2022 Eid-el Kabir festival will be held on Saturday.
