Teenager in Court over alleged theft, possession of motorcycle spare part

An 18-year-old Abubakar Salisu, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing and possession of motorcycle spare parts.

Salisu, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and possession of motorcycle spare parts.
The prosecutor, Insp Bamikole Olasunkanmi, told the Court that the accused person and one other at large, committed the offence on July 1, between 7:00 a.m and 8:00 a.m at Iwara Street, Atikankan Area in Ado-Ekiti.
Olasunkanmi alleged that the accused and one other at large, also stole one Itel phone, a bag containing klin detergent and three pair of shoes.
Other items allegedly stolen are cloths, two caps and vital documents valued at N500,000 belonging to Abudllahi Shehu, Sufiana Shehu and Abdulrahman Abubakar.
He also alleged that the he was found in   possession  of spare parts of motorcycle suspected to have been stolen.
According to him, the offences contravenes Section 302(1) (a) and 345 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
He urged the Court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
His counsel, Mr Timi Omotosho, urged the Court to grant his client bail and promised that the he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Michael Faola, granted the bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Aug.11 for hearing.
