Minister calls for quality education to Nigerian children

The Minister of State for Education, Mr Goodluck Opiah, has said that the Nigerian children must enjoy the right and quality education.

Opiah who spoke when he received the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr Hamid Bobboyi,  in his office in Abuja acknowledged the role UBEC in the provision of functional and quality basic education in Nigeria.

The minister assured UBEC management of his ministry’s support towards achieving the commission’s mandate.

“We need UBEC to be for the future of our children, it is a noble programme the ministry must support and deliver,” he said.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of UBEC,  Dr Hamid Boboyi thanked the minister for granting audience with UBEC management  and assured him of members of staff commitment and dedication towards basic education delivery in Nigeria.

He also told the minister that UBEC was established by the compulsory, free Universal Basic Education and Other Related Matters Act of 2004 with a mandate to formulate policy guidelines for the successful operation of the Universal Basic Education Programme.

Boboyi said  that the commission had been playing  key role in  providing infrastructure and training of teachers in the country.
