The Nasarawa State Revenue Internal Service (NSIRS) says it generated N7.4 billion as revenue between January and June, this year.
Alhaji Ahmed Yakubu, the Chairman of the service, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lafia when he appeared before the state House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
He told the committee that the agency has adopted electronic revenue collection strategy, thereby blocking leakages.
“I want to commend the committee for supporting our activities to succeed.
“We have performed well in revenue generation as we have generated over N7.4 billon in six months.
“I want to assure you that we will do more by God’s grace,” Yakubu said.
The executive chairman commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for giving attention to the service to move forward.
Alhaji Mohammed Okpoku, the Vice Chairman of the committee, commended the agency for its encouraging revenue performance and urged them to do more.
The lawmaker said that the committee invited the agency in order to assess its 2022 budget performance.
“We are happy with your revenue performance and we call on you to do more.
“There will be more development if the state has more money in its coffers,” he said.
Okpoku assured of the legislature’s continued support to the service to succeed.
Also appeared before the committee was the management of Nasarawa State Bureau of Public Procurement, where the Director-General of the Bureau, Dr Dominic Bako, represented by the Director, Procurement, Mr Umar Mohammed, appreciated the committee for supporting its activities.
The director-general said that the bureau would continue to ensure due process, transparency and accountability while discharging its duties.
