The Lagos Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Mr Kuforiji Williams, on Friday promised to foster relationship with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in its bid to contribute more in the country.
Williams disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos office of NAN.
The Lagos Commandant said the visit would go a long way in projecting the image of the Peace Corps and its focus, which is to complement the effort of other security agencies.
“This visit will go a long way in making sure that all we are agitating for is expedited, as the media have a very big role to play, because nobody would know we are here without you.
“No matter what goes on behind the door, if you, this agency, do not project it to the people, no one would know.
“That is why we decided to come and appreciate you and also look for a way we can synergise and partner with each other.
“On behalf of my National Commandant, Prof. Dickson Akoh, we appreciate all the staff of NAN and pray that this synergy will go a long way in building the image of the nation by God’s grace,.” he said.
Receiving Williams, Mr Ephraims Sheyin, the
Head of Operations, NAN Lagos office,
thanked him for the visit.
He commended the PCN for its effort in getting to its present state and moving to get more recognition.
“You are welcome to the News Agency of Nigeria and we will be glad to partner with you so that Nigerians will be able to see your effort towards a greater Nigeria.
“It is a good thing that you have visited us; as this will also give us opportunity to interview you on the activities of your organisation.” he said.
The Head of NAN Lagos Operations said that all hands must be on deck towards enhancing security in the country.
“Yes, we have the traditional Armed Forces, the Navy and then the Air Force. We also have Civil Defence, so we need to have as many security agents as possible, because we need all hands on deck towards securing the country.” he said.
Sheyin said that NAN, with its wide reach, was available to carry out its mandate of keeping people informed.
“When we do our report here, it goes practically everywhere.
“It goes beyond what you imagine, so I want to thank you for coming to NAN and I want you to know we will always support your activities and whatever it takes to ensure people recognise you,” he said.
Mr Abdulfatah Babatunde, Mr Folorunsho Poroye, Mr Joe Idika and Mr Wole Sogunle, all Deputy Editors-in-Chief at NAN, were also present when the Head of Office received Williams.
