Security guard in court for allegedly stealing vehicle parts

A 34-year-old security guard, Samson Ekema, who allegedly stole his employer’s vehicle parts worth N620,000, on Thursday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

The defendant, who works at a car sales outlet located at Adisa Balogun Street, Alapere, Lagos, is charged with conspiracy and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 12, at the above-mentioned address.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant called the complainant, Mr Olowolafe Oluwatosin, at 7.00 a.m. on Oct. 12 and told him that some young men had broken into the compound and vandalised two of his vehicles.

He listed the vehicles as Lexus 250 2008 model and X 350 2013 model.

Perezi told the court that the intruders allegedly made away with two side mirrors with sensor valued at N150,000, four sets of padded doors worth N150, 000 and four sets of roof plastic worth N85,000.

He listed other stolen vehicle parts to include backside glass door valued at N30,000 and a complete car tape valued N250,000.

The prosecutor told the court that the offences contravened Sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Tanimola adjourned the case until Nov.11 for mention.
