Amazon to stop hiring due to challenging economic situation

Amazon, an E-commerce giant has announced that it would put a stop to hiring more employees temporarily, due to an uncertain and challenging economy.

This is contained in a note shared with workers on Wednesday and published on Thursday.

Beth Galetti, Amazon executive said that the company has decided to pause on new incremental hires in its  corporate workforce.

According to Galetti, this was due to an uncertain economy and in light of how many people we had  hired in the last few years.

He also clarified that the company would in most cases, continue to fill vacant positions and, in some targeted places, increase the headcount.

He added that the hiring freeze would likely remain in place for the next few months.

Amazon has 1.5 million employees worldwide.
