The Police Command in Oyo State has vowed to heavily sanction unauthorised users of sirens, covered plate numbers, and unregistered vehicles, among others.<\/p>\n

Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko, made this known in a statement by the command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, on Monday in Ibadan.<\/p>\n

According to Onadeko, other violators to be similarly sanctioned are users of spy number plates and right hand drive vehicles.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Command wishes to inform the public that it has commenced the enforcement of laws banning the unlawful use of sirens, revolving lights and flashers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is to instill safety and sanity on all public highways and other roads throughout Oyo State,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Onadeko said that she had directed total enforcement by all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, State Traffic Officers and Divisional Traffic Officers in conjunction with the Federal Road Safety Corps<\/a>, Oyo State Command.<\/p>\n

The CP said that a Special Joint Traffic Enforcement Task Force, comprising of the Police and Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Oyo State Command, had been commissioned for this purpose.<\/p>\n

Onadeko also called on members of the public to continue to be law-abiding and cooperate with the Task Force team in ridding the state of all forms of traffic offences.<\/p>\n
