{"id":10904,"date":"2022-02-05T15:52:35","date_gmt":"2022-02-05T15:52:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=10904"},"modified":"2022-02-05T15:52:35","modified_gmt":"2022-02-05T15:52:35","slug":"nuprc-others-embark-on-joint-investigation-visit-to-fpso-trinity-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/02\/05\/nuprc-others-embark-on-joint-investigation-visit-to-fpso-trinity-spirit\/","title":{"rendered":"NUPRC, others embark on joint investigation visit to FPSO Trinity Spirit"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/01\/22\/nuprc-give-assurance-on-transparency-in-upstream-petroleum-sector\/\">Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC)<\/a> and other relevant stakeholders have embarked on a Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) to the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility which exploded on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The NUPRC confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Trinity Spirit FPSO located at Ukpokiti field (OML 108) in Delta State exploded leading to a fire incident on the vessel.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Providing an update, the commission said the fire had been successfully extinguished.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It said: \u201cThe commission will commence JIV with relevant stakeholders immediately in line with our regulatory oversight function for upstream operations.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe commission will further deploy its incident management strategy while also ensuring that the removal of the FPSO is carried out professionally to prevent an escalation of the incident.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe commission will continue to ensure that all safety and environmental measures are strictly adhered to in the management of the incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Also in a statement, the Management of Shebah Exploration and Production Company Ltd. (SEPCOL), which owns the FPSO, confirmed that the JIV with relevant stakeholders and experts had been scheduled for Feb. 5.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The statement was signed by Mr Ikemefuna Okafor, the Chief Executive Officer, SEPCOL (In receivership).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Okafor had disclosed that there was still no reported fatalities from the incident.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He said the company would continue prioritising investigations with respect to establishing the whereabouts, safety, and security of the 10 crew members who were on board the vessel prior to the incident.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Okafor lauded the assistance provided by the Clean Nigeria Associates, the Chevron team, government agencies and the people of the community, particularly the fishermen since the incident occurred.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and other relevant stakeholders have embarked on a Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) to the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility which exploded on Wednesday.
