Gov. Gboyega Oyetola<\/a> of Osun<\/a>, says he will never betray the trust reposed in him by the electorate, if re-elected in the July 16 governorship election in the state. Oyetola made the remarks during an engagement programme organised by the State\u2019s Civic Engagement Centre on Sunday in Ijimo village in Oriade Local Government Area (LGA) of Osun state.<\/p>\n

The Governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, noted that he had made a covenant with God and the people that voted him into power to always prioritize their welfare.<\/p>\n

He said that the assumption by some people that he would stop the good works he had been doing since the assumption of office if re-elected, is far from the truth.<\/p>\n

The Governor noted that since he had not reneged in any of the promises he made on the assumption of office, he would not also disappoint the people during his second term.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn assumption of office in November 2018, I promised prompt and full payment of workers\u2019 salaries, as well as pensions. And till date, the promise is well kept, as workers and our senior citizens get their entitlements as and when due.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI also promised to embark on developmental projects, and this is evident in the areas of road rehabilitation, health, education, youth empowerment, as well as the provision of free monthly feeding for vulnerable groups, among others.”<\/p>\n

\u201cAside from Olaiya flyover, which is waiting for the inauguration, we had embarked on other road rehabilitation and reconstruction across the state. We recently approved repairs of 25 roads, spanning 200 kilometres in the state.”<\/p>\n

\u201cOn our free monthly food distribution, over 300,000 vulnerable households have benefitted from it, since inception and we will not stop. In the area of health intervention, we rehabilitated, revitalized, renovated and upgraded 332 focal Primary Healthcare Centres across the state.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe administration has distributed drugs worth N50 million across the state Primary Health care facilities, as well as several new beds to all health facilities across the state, among others. If you give me your support again, which I believe you will, these good works will never stop, but rather, expect much more goodies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Oyetola, who appreciated the people of the state for their support and prayers for his administration, urged them not to allow \u2018\u2019kindergarten politicians\u2019\u2019 to deceive them with fake promises.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have tested me for close to four years now and you can see that I have not in any way failed you. Let\u2019s join hands to ensure continuity for the benefit and greater Osun, which we will all be proud of,\u201d the governor added.<\/p>\n

He also urged them to ensure they have their voter cards<\/a>, adding that the voter cards are their power to ensure continuity of good work, come July 16.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, the Onijimo of Ijimo, Oba Samuel Abe, commended the governor for sending his Special Adviser to visit all the villages in the area.<\/p>\n

Oba Abe called on the governor to sustain the good works he has been doing for the people.<\/p>\n

While thanking the Governor for the various ongoing developmental projects in the state, the royal father appealed to the government to provide more roads, increase rural electrification and access to potable water in the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
