Nigeria Police Force, Osun Command has denied the report that the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, was attacked and shot at by hoodlums in Osogbo.<\/p>\n

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Yemisi Opalola, in a statement on Monday in Osogbo, said that it was some of the minister\u2019s escort that shot into the air without provocation, causing people to scramble for safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, Monday, at about 5.40pm, the Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola was moving in convoy of personnel of NSCDC, Correctional Service, Immigration, as well as some unidentified armed people, suspected to be political thugs along Orisumbare\/MFS Road, Osogbo.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuddenly, some of the security escorts of the minister started shooting sporadically into the air without any provocation nor attack, thereby causing members of the public to scramble for their safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cThirteen empty shells of G-3, assault and AK-37 rifle were recovered along the road after the minister\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo casualty, however, was recorded\u201d, \u00a0the PPRO pointed out.<\/p>\n

She, however, said that the report of the incident was\u00a0still sketchy, adding\u00a0full report would be made available\u00a0 at the end of investigation.<\/p>\n

According to her,\u00a0the situation is under close monitoring and normalcy has returned.<\/p>\n

The Publicity Secretary of a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC)<\/a> in the state, Abiodun Agboola, had in a statement alleged that\u00a0Aregbesola\u2019s\u00a0convoy was attacked by some armed political thugs at Orisunmibare, Osogbo ,while coming from Ilesa.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s attempt on the\u00a0life of the minister is a confirmation that Osun is no longer a safe state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can only pray that the Almighty would keep the good people of Osun and her well wishers safe\u201d, Agboola said.<\/p>\n
