{"id":1245,"date":"2021-11-27T20:30:12","date_gmt":"2021-11-27T20:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=1245"},"modified":"2021-11-27T20:30:12","modified_gmt":"2021-11-27T20:30:12","slug":"electricity-lasg-plans-to-provide-residents-with-50-megawatts-of-power-for-20-hours-per-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/11\/27\/electricity-lasg-plans-to-provide-residents-with-50-megawatts-of-power-for-20-hours-per-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Electricity: LASG plans to provide residents with 50 megawatts of power for 20 hours per day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lagos State Government has announced plans to provide 50 MegaWatts of electricity to residents for 20 hours per day through the Lagos State Electricity Policy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos, made this known in a statement signed on Saturday by Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi, Director Public Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives (MCIC).<\/p>\n<p>Sanwo-Olu stated that the project was part of his administration&#8217;s efforts to accelerate industrialization in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor went on to say that the Lagos State Electricity Policy Framework was designed to create a sub-national electricity sector that would be completely independent of the national grid and would serve the needs of the state&#8217;s households.<\/p>\n<p>Sanwo-Olu praised the creativity and resilience of young industrialists and urged them to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the state government.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned finances, entrepreneurship, and technical assistance as examples.<\/p>\n<p>Sanwo-Olu stated that they could use these to provide workable solutions to the state&#8217;s and country&#8217;s industrialization challenges.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now is the time to think outside the box.&#8221; For example, you could consider developing machines that refine raw materials in low-quality batches at first, but run entirely on solar or other forms of clean energy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is not the time to think about what we don&#8217;t have; rather, it is the time to maximize the opportunities that we do have,&#8221; Sanwo- Olu said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1247\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1247\" style=\"width: 622px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1247\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/images-60-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"622\" height=\"493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/images-60-2.jpeg 622w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/images-60-2-300x238.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/images-60-2-279x220.jpeg 279w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1247\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;I want you to know that we, as a society, expect more from you in terms of innovation and creativity that will put an end to Africa&#8217;s industrialisation challenges,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>He assured that his administration would continue to listen to all ideas put forward by the public.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Lola Akande, Commissioner, MCIC, also pledged the ministry&#8217;s commitment to continue facilitating a conducive environment for commerce to thrive.<\/p>\n<p>She stated that the government was prepared to provide the necessary promotional assistance through policies and programs in order to achieve a sustainable business environment.<\/p>\n<p>Akande challenged stakeholders and blue-chip companies to rise to the challenge of mentoring and supporting young industrialists in the state in order to improve industry productivity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lagos State Government has announced plans to provide 50 MegaWatts of electricity to residents for 20 hours per day through the Lagos State Electricity Policy.
