{"id":12782,"date":"2022-02-23T15:46:29","date_gmt":"2022-02-23T15:46:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=12782"},"modified":"2022-02-23T15:46:29","modified_gmt":"2022-02-23T15:46:29","slug":"court-bars-fani-kayodes-ex-wife-from-comments-on-family-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/02\/23\/court-bars-fani-kayodes-ex-wife-from-comments-on-family-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Court bars Fani-Kayode\u2019s ex-wife from comments on family, children"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645577409888\">An FCT Family Court sitting at the Magistrate District, Wuse Zone II, Abuja, has restrained Precious Chikwendu, from making comments that could lead to identification of children whose custody issues have been submitted before it for determination.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575473965\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575474138\">Chiwendu is the former wife of ex-Minister of Aviation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/11\/30\/money-laundering-fani-kayode-pays-n200000-for-absenteeism\/\">Chief Femi Fani-Kayode<\/a>, the applicant in matter.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645574799299\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575511207\">The presiding judge,\u00a0<span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575422022\">Njideka Duru, gave the order following a motion ex-parte moved by the applicant\u2019s counsel, Adeola Adedipe, to the effect.<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575511207\"><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575855066\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575960964\">The judge, thereafter, granted the order of interim injunction restraining Chikwendu \u201cfrom publishing the names, address, school, photographs or making any comment, presenting any speech or paper whether at a public gathering or during a programme described as \u2018Green Shift\u2019 (Apostolic Roundtables) slated for Feb. 24.\u201d<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645576597418\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645576597575\">She also granted the order restraining the ex-wife from commenting \u201con any social media platform of any information likely to lead to the identification of any of the children whose custody issues have been submitted to this court for determination, pending the determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.\u201d<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645576986243\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645577076634\">Adedipe, in the motion ex-parte marked: MN\/05\/2022 filed on Feb. 14 on behalf of Fani-Kayode, prayed the court for four orders, which include \u201can order granting leave to the applicant, to amend the originating process filed in this case.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645577559669\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645577587061\">He sought for an order of substituted service on the respondent of the amended originating motion, motion on notice for interlocutory injunction and hearing notice.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The lawyer also sought for an order setting down for hearing in camera, the conduct of any or all proceedings in this case, in the best interest of the children involved; to preserve their respective rights to dignity and privacy.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645576986476\">\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645578001311\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645578001648\">He also asked the court for an order of interim injunction stopping Chikwendu or associates from making presentations at any public gathering or social media platform of the broken relationship.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645578600433\">The judge, who granted the orders for substituted service and to amend the originating process, also granted reliefs 1, 2, 3 and 4(b) of the application.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645618819169\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645618819275\">She adjourned the matter until March 24 for hearing.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645578765414\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575811960\">The News Agency of Nigeria reports that\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579310403\">Chikwendu,\u00a0<\/span>an ex-beauty queen,<span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579370968\">\u00a0was on\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579404734\">Feb. 14, docked before Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court (FHC), Abuja for the attempted murder of her former husband, Fani-Kayode.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579311786\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645575797784\"><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579495213\">Though pleaded not guilty in the charge number: FHCABJ\/CR\/1\/2022 filed by the FCT Commissioner of Police against her and three others, the ex-wife was alleged to have attempted to stab Fani-Kayode with a kitchen knife on Nov. 24, 2018 at Asokoro, within the court jurisdiction.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579556770\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579791156\">Prosecuting counsel, John Ijagbemi, had also told the newsmen that the complainant planned to amend the charge to include an attempt by Chikwendu to kill the four children she had for the ex-minister going by the facts available to the police.\u00a0<\/span><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579557488\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645579996576\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645580044388\">Justice Ekwo had fixed April 27 for the trial.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Chikwendu, who was accused of infidelity by the former minister, was also said to have withdrawn various civil cases filed against Fani-Kayode.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645574799462\">\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645578956541\">\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645580206822\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645580221565\">Although the duo had parted ways, the former minister said Chikwendu had always been given access to her children under closed supervision due to her alleged mental challenges which could result to hurting the children.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645580223004\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645580234358\">The former minister had also alleged that Chikwendu stopped calling the children on telephone for about seven months now contrary to her habit in the past.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645580235538\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv8724565201yMail_cursorElementTracker_1645580261966\">In a related development, NAN reports that the ex-wife\u2019s arraignment in alleged defamation of character suit filed against her by former Sen.
