{"id":13784,"date":"2022-03-04T08:06:32","date_gmt":"2022-03-04T08:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=13784"},"modified":"2022-03-04T08:06:32","modified_gmt":"2022-03-04T08:06:32","slug":"alleged-blasphemy-kano-cleric-opens-defence-tenders-27-exhibits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/03\/04\/alleged-blasphemy-kano-cleric-opens-defence-tenders-27-exhibits\/","title":{"rendered":"Alleged blasphemy: Kano cleric opens defence, tenders 27 exhibits"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<p class=\"entry-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">A Kano cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru-Kabara, on Thursday opened his defence and tendered 27 exhibits in the ongoing alleged blasphemy trial.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>The 27 books exhibits he tendered include: Almuhadisu Alfasil Banul Rawawil Wali,Sunannun Darumi,Jami\u2019u Ilmi,Tauhiful Abkar,Anannakatu Almukaddimatu IBM Salah, Al Gaya and 21others.<\/p>\n<p>NAN reports that Nasiru-Kabara is charged with four counts bordering on blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)\u00a0on Aug.10, Oct.25 and Dec.20, 2019<\/p>\n<p>Led in evidence by defence counsel, Mr Ambali Obomeileh-Muhammad, SAN, Nasiru-Kabara took an oath with the Holy Qur\u2019an before he started testifying.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant denied committing the crime.<\/p>\n<p>He said that he translated the meaning of the Hadith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was only protecting Prophet Muhammad PBUH based on the comments against Him in the Hadith,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He testified that the prosecution made a mistake in the alleged charge filed against him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI only translated what I saw in the Hadith. It is not my\u00a0interpretation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my preaching, I did not blasphem Prophet Muhammad PBUH on his marriage with Nana Safiyya,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier the Prosecution Counsel, Suraj Sa\u2019eda, SAN, told the court that the defendant made a blasphemous comment against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in his marriage with Nana Safiyya in Jautul Fara, Section 93 (40) and hadith 1,365 and 1,428.<\/p>\n<p>The trial judge, Malam Ibrahim Sarki-Yola, ordered the defence to give the prosecution a photocopy of the exhibits and keep the original with the court.<\/p>\n<p>He adjourned the matter until March 17, for continuation of defence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Kano cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru-Kabara, on Thursday opened his defence and tendered 27 exhibits in the ongoing alleged blasphemy trial.
