{"id":17179,"date":"2022-04-08T18:37:16","date_gmt":"2022-04-08T18:37:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=17179"},"modified":"2022-04-08T21:15:42","modified_gmt":"2022-04-08T21:15:42","slug":"employee-charged-with-theft-of-delivery-motorcycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/08\/employee-charged-with-theft-of-delivery-motorcycle\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee charged with theft of delivery motorcycle"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">\u00a0A 23-year-old man, Abel Abraham, on Friday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates\u2019 Court, Lagos State, for\u00a0 alleged theft of delivery motorcycle belonging to his employer.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>The employer is\u00a0 Menue-Menue Food Network.<\/p>\n<p>Abraham, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/07\/carpenter-gets-3-months-jail-term-for-stealing-cell-phone\/\">stealing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Insp Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb.1 on Adeola Street, Medina Estate Gbagada, Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>Perezi said that the defendant stole the motorcycle from the premises of Menue- Menue Food Network.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the motorcycle which is a power bike, is marked MUS 549 QK, and worth N550, 000.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the defendant also stole N38,000 belonging to the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/04\/police-nab-5-suspected-kidnappers-armed-robbers-in-jigawa\/\">police<\/a> investigation, the crime was traced down to the defendant and his cohort who is still at large,\u201d he alleged.<\/p>\n<p>Perezi said that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>reports\u00a0 have it that Section 287(7) prescribes seven years\u2019 jail term for stealing from one\u2019s employer, while Section 411 provides for two years\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/08\/man-bags-12-months-imprisonment-for-attempting-to-steal-from-obasanjo\/\">imprisonment<\/a> for conspiracy.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, Mrs O. M.
