{"id":17243,"date":"2022-04-09T04:38:14","date_gmt":"2022-04-09T04:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=17243"},"modified":"2022-04-09T04:38:14","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T04:38:14","slug":"man-37-in-court-for-allegedly-stabbing-friend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/09\/man-37-in-court-for-allegedly-stabbing-friend\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, 37, in court for allegedly stabbing friend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 37-year-old man, Bababunmi Ositelu,\u00a0 on Friday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates\u2019 Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stabbing his friend on the neck.<\/p>\n<p>Ositelu, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on a four-count charge of causing grievous harm, wilful damage, breach of peace and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/11\/30\/court-declares-banishment-of-emir-sanusi-unlawful-and-unconstitutional\/\">unlawful<\/a> display of arm.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Insp Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 19 on Aina Street, Ojota, Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the defendant stabbed his friend, Mr\u00a0 Bello Abideen, with a jack- knife following a misunderstanding.<\/p>\n<p>Perezi\u00a0 added that the defendant wilfully <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/07\/2023-elections-abide-by-2022-electoral-act-inec-tasks-political-stakeholders\/\">damaged<\/a> a pair of blue trousers worth $200 (N108, 000) which Abideen was wearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by blocking Aina Street with his Toyota Prado and displaying a dangerous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/02\/21\/china-imposes-sanctions-on-u-s-coys-over-sales-of-weapons-to-taiwan\/\">weapon<\/a>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He submitted that the Abideen was still receiving treatment in a hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections, 51, 168, 245 and ,350 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/03\/30\/insecurity-el-rufai-warns-communities-against-shielding-criminals\/\">Criminal<\/a> Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrate, Mrs O.M.
