{"id":17250,"date":"2022-04-09T03:51:49","date_gmt":"2022-04-09T03:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=17250"},"modified":"2022-04-09T03:51:49","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T03:51:49","slug":"man-28-arraigned-over-alleged-battery-inflicting-injury-on-wife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/09\/man-28-arraigned-over-alleged-battery-inflicting-injury-on-wife\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, 28,\u00a0arraigned over alleged battery, inflicting injury on wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\">\n<div class=\"entry-meta\">\u00a0A 28-year-old man, Morounkeji Olusanya, was on Friday arraigned before an Ile Ife Magistrates\u2019 Court over alleged battery and inflicting injury on his wife.<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, ASP Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that Olusanya assaulted his wife, Seyi, and inflicted injury on her mouth.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the defendant was being arraigned on a two-count charge of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/03\/28\/governors-aide-arrested-for-assaulting-traffic-warden\/\">assault<\/a> and a breach of public peace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi said that Olusanya committed the offences at 2.00 p.m.\u00a0 on April 7 at the Aganhun Area of Ile-Ife.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201dHe hit his wife with his fist all over her body and resisted attempts by neighbours to stop him,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said thatcthe offences contravened Sections 249(d) and 355 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/03\/24\/fight-against-oil-theft-will-continue-until-the-criminals-surrender-jtf\/\">Criminal<\/a> Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The defendant pleaded guilty to the two-count charge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In her response, the Defence Counsel, Mrs Sidikat Salawu, urged the court to grant the defendant bail with a warning not to repeat such an act.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/08\/employee-charged-with-theft-of-delivery-motorcycle\/\">Magistrate<\/a> O. B.
