{"id":17291,"date":"2022-04-09T07:08:22","date_gmt":"2022-04-09T07:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=17291"},"modified":"2022-04-09T07:08:22","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T07:08:22","slug":"fx-repatriation-cbn-to-begin-payment-of-n65-rebate-to-exporters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/09\/fx-repatriation-cbn-to-begin-payment-of-n65-rebate-to-exporters\/","title":{"rendered":"FX Repatriation: CBN to begin payment of N65 rebate to exporters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/11\/27\/the-central-bank-of-nigeria-cbn-plans-to-establish-an-international-finance-centre-in-eko-atlantic-city\/\">Central Bank of Nigeria of Nigeria (CBN)<\/a> said it would begin payment of N65 rebate to exporters who sold their goods through the importers and exporters (I&amp;E) window, at the end of the first quarter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">CBN Governor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/02\/02\/cbn-governor-godwin-emefiele-commissions-gerawa-rice-mill-in-kano\/\">Godwin Emefiele<\/a>, said this shortly after signing the Term Sheet between the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp) and the Independent Asset Managers, on Friday in Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the apex bank had in February announced policies, plans, and programmes for non-oil exports that would enable Nigeria to earn 200 billion dollars in foreign exchange repatriation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The RT200 FX Programme, which stands for the \u201cRace to 200 billion dollars in FX Repatriation, is a set of policies for non-oil exports to enable Nigeria to attain the goal of 200 billion dollars in FX repatriation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Emefiele said, \u201cyou will recall that we effectively started in March, but, I have said that by the latest, after the end of the quarter, we will issue cheques.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWe will make payments to all those who have exported, their proceeds have come in and they sold them through the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>I &amp;E window to import goods and services into the country.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cSo, the first set of payments for the rebate will be done by next week and we are actually making it public so that Nigerians can know.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAnd so that they can also encourage other exporters to say that the era when you export and your rebate never comes in five years, that that era is gone,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The CBN governor expressed the bank\u2019s determination to ensure the success of the initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He added that the kind of numbers that the apex bank got from the banks showed the policy was working very well. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Central Bank of Nigeria of Nigeria (CBN) said it would begin payment of N65 rebate to exporters who sold their goods through the importers and exporters (I&amp;E) window, at the end of the first quarter.
