{"id":18032,"date":"2022-04-11T19:49:26","date_gmt":"2022-04-11T19:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=18032"},"modified":"2022-04-11T19:49:26","modified_gmt":"2022-04-11T19:49:26","slug":"jos-water-corporation-blames-scarcity-on-epileptic-power-supply-road-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/11\/jos-water-corporation-blames-scarcity-on-epileptic-power-supply-road-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Jos water corporation blames scarcity on epileptic power supply, road projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Jos Water Services Corporation has attributed the scarcity of potable water in the Plateau capital to poor supply of electricity to its treatment plants and ongoing road projects.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mr Nangor Ndam, its Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Monday in Jos, expained that the poor power supply had hindered the distribution of potable water to residents, while some pipes had also gone with the ongoing road <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/09\/totalenergies-partners-inaugurate-4-projects-in-south-east\/\">projects<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He listed worst hit areas to include Bukuru, Zawan, Anguldi, Kwata-Zawan, Trade Centre and Vom.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Other communities affected are\u00a0 Bukuru Low-cost, Building materials, Kufang, State and Federal Low-cost, Dandikowa, Tudun Wada, Jenta Adamu, Kabong and Alheri.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Equally hit are Farin-Gada up to Mista-Ali, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/11\/strike-asuu-canvasses-support-to-rescue-dying-university-system\/\">University<\/a> of Jos, Katako, GRA, Nasarawa Gwom, Bauchi Ring road, among others.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He explained that the ongoing construction of a Fly-over at the British-American road junction had destroyed many pipelines supplying water to Jos city centre.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The official named affected areas to include West of Mines, Church, Langtang, Shendam, Pankshin and Tafawa Belewa streets, Alikazaure, Ahmadu Bello way, Bank Road, among others.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ndam, however, assured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/11\/c-river-agency-appeals-to-residents-over-delay-in-waste-evacuation\/\">residents<\/a> that the pipes removed would be relocated and reconnected when the project is completed.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He also said that the corporation had provided alternative outlets for the general public to get potable water.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201dResidents are allowed to get water free in our treatment plant near <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/04\/11\/british-nigerian-founder-of-uk-firm-lauds-ifsam-recipient\/\">British<\/a> American junction.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201dThe plant is open 24-hours and government is also looking at ways to provide solar energy at the treatment plants for effective production and distribution of water,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Jos Water Services Corporation has attributed the scarcity of potable water in the Plateau capital to poor supply of electricity to its treatment plants and ongoing road projects.
